Privacy Policy
Zig Weekly is an independent community newsletter, run by Filip Sergot. This policy explains what personal data we handle, why, and what rights you have. Questions or requests: hello@zigweekly.com.
What we collect
- Your email address, only if you subscribe to the newsletter. Our email provider also records technical details of the signup, such as the time, your IP address and the page you signed up from.
- Nothing else. The website does not use cookies, analytics or advertising trackers, and the newsletter does not use open or click tracking. If that changes, this policy will be updated first.
Why we use it, and on what basis
We use your email address only to send you the Zig Weekly newsletter. The legal basis is your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)). You give it by submitting the signup form and confirming your address in the confirmation email. You can withdraw it at any time with the unsubscribe link in every issue; withdrawing does not affect the earlier emails.
We do not sell your data or use it for anything else.
Who handles your data
- Buttondown manages the subscriber list and delivers the newsletter. It is based in the United States, so your data may be processed outside the EU/EEA. Its privacy policy describes how it handles data and the safeguards it uses.
- Cloudflare hosts and delivers the website, and so sees the IP address of anyone who visits it.
- GitHub hosts the source code of this site and the newsletter drafts. If you contribute there, GitHub's privacy statement applies to what you submit.
If we add a provider, we will list it here.
How long we keep it
Until you unsubscribe. After that your address is kept only as long as needed to make sure we do not email you again, and then deleted. You can ask us to delete it sooner.
Your rights
You can ask us to access, correct or delete your data, to restrict or object to its use, or to give you a copy of it. Email hello@zigweekly.com and we will answer within one month. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Compliance with laws
We may disclose information when the law requires it, or to protect the security of the service.
Security
We rely on our providers' security measures and keep access to the subscriber list to the maintainer. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
Links to other sites
Issues link to third-party sites. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the last change, and we will announce material changes in the newsletter or on this page.
